Blip Program Reflection

Improved Essays
Going into 6th grade I was 11 years old. I didn’t go to GCMS in 6th grade. I went to GCA. I was in the “BLIP” program. I don’t know what “BLIP” stands for. There weren’t enough spots open for the full program, so I had to do the BLIP program. In the BLIP program you don’t attend all 5 days. You go to school for 2 days and stay home for the other 2 days and of course the last would be FAP (Field Activity Program). You would still have to do homework at home, but it was still fun being able to stay home a few extra days of the week. The teacher for BLIP in 6th grade was a very strict teacher. If you would do something wrong, you would know because she would get on you about it. But overall, she was a pretty good teacher.

Overview My journey through the UCM CPPP program has been very transformational. I selected this program based on positive feedback from peers. I thought a journey into an administrative role could be a distant possibility, but I was quite content in my current role in the classroom. This program completely changed my perspective.…

I became literate at a very young age around one or two years old and people could understand what I wanted. For example, bolitas (meant balls in Spanish) cooked beans and no bolitas was refried beans. I had a way of commutating with my family but sometimes I would forget what the word was and I used to describe the item itself. They would eventually understand what I mean. Unlike one of the cases in Deborah Brandt’s Sponsors of Literacy, I did not have a tutor or anything like that.…

Jane was probably like this because she could not have taught a class so fast and be boring at the same time, for all of the class would fail out. She was actually very proud the first time I came to her outside of class and asked for help on a particular subject, and she was right to do so. For on a test, which I would have probably failed on my own, I was the only one to receive 100 on. After that, I soon learned that I was to move to Louisville around mid-december, and was sad that I had to go, for that year I knew I had some of the best teachers I have ever had, including Ms. Jane, my 9th grade science teacher, who taught me how to stay on task and manage my time.…

Seventh grade, my second year now at what I thought to be the worst school in the world. On back to school night I met a man who would change my perspective on life completely, that man being Brandon Lilly. Henry Adams once said “A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.” At a mere five-foot four he appeared to be a kid minus the burly lumberjack beard that he possessed. I remember being skeptical at first because I had never had a male teacher before.…

She would always check up on our homework and ask for grades to see where were at. It was hard to hide our grades from her because if she doesn't get it from us she would go to the school and get it herself. My brothers and I would try to maintain at least a B or higher anything lower than that really my mother would be on us. Taking away video games, time away from friends, and anything that would seem to be important to us.…

Now as we all know, 6th grade wasn’t a good school year. People looked weird, everything was new, it was just an awkward system all together. In 6th grade everything didn’t feel right. It was like I was back in 5th grade but without the teacher taking the class everywhere. I started to notice as the year went by, the 5th grade part of 6th grade was fading in a good way.…

As long as I could remember my mom has always told me to “learn a lot, learn as much as you can, so that you would be able to have a better future”. She would also say that “as long as you put effort into your work, then everything will be alright.” I believed her, since she’s older than me and she’s my mother. A mother would always wish for the best for their child.…

MQP is more than just a school to me, it is a lifestyle. It is a lifestyle of Unity and Respect. In Kindergarten, all I did was sit at my desk, and mess around and wait to go home and play with my Legos, and that was the most important thing to me at the time. First Grade wasn’t a very good year for me because I had to start living inbetween two different houses. This was around the time when my parents got divorced and it was a very hard time, but MQP helped me a lot.…

Literacy Autobiography Reading has always been a subject that I have struggled in and so has many others. Not the understanding part, but the paying attention to whatever is on the page and what is happening part. It has always been something that I need to figure out, and I am still figuring it out to this day. Ever since the first day of kindergarten, I have been terrible at writing, reading, and most anything related to the English subject.…

Problems Essay Myaccess: American jazz legend Duke Ellington said, “ A problem is a chance for you to do your best.” I like this quote because I think you should always try your best on everything. If you do not try your best on everything, then you will not succeed as much as you would have learned, if you just took a few more minutes and actually tried your best. Therefore, you should always try your best on everything you do.…
