Blinder gives several solutions to potentially prevent offshoring. Blinder’s main solution to offshoring, is the way we educate students. Blinder states that the amount of education a student receives is not the solution, but the type of education they receive. Blinder says that more skill based education, as well as vocational based education is essential in preparing students for high end service jobs. I agree with this solution that Blinder gives. In years past, there has been such an emphasis on finishing high school, going to college, getting a master’s degree and so on. While this is still obviously important, I agree with Blinder in that education really needs to focus on truly preparing students to take on jobs that will be available. There are many skills, such as communication skills, that are vital in the workforce. I feel as if schools do not focus on skills like these very much. The focus is primarily on core subjects, such as science, literature, and math. While these subjects are still necessary, there are many other things students need to learn to be prepared for a job. I think this solution that Blinder gives, is very practical and beneficial. Blinder did a well job of justifying and illustrating this
