In the inspirational film The Blind Side, the rags to riches archetype is very apparent and has a great affect on the characters and plot of this movie. This movie is about a 17 year-old boy named Michael Oher. Michael has been in foster care in Memphis, Tennessee, since he was a young boy. He was separated from his family due to his mother’s drug addiction. At the beginning of the movie Michael’s friend's father asks the coach of Wingate Christian School to help enroll his son and Michael. The coach gets Micheal admitted despite his bad academic record because he is impressed by Michael’s size and athleticism. Later, Michael is befriended by a younger student named Sean Tuohy Jr., nicknamed SJ. One night, Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy, SJ’s parents, notice Michael walking on the road in the cold, wearing very few layers.
