What Is A Blepharoplasty?

A blepharoplasty is a procedure that can remove skin, muscle or fat from the upper or lower eyelids. It can also improve vision by correcting droopy eyelids. Some patients get the upper and lower eyelid done at the same. Others only get the upper or lower eyelid done.

What Is A Cosmetic Blepharoplasty?

A cosmetic blepharoplasty is performed for cosmetic purposes only. The lower or upper eyelids may become baggy or droopy as the result of the natural aging process. The eyelids may also weaken, and the fat and muscle pockets become more noticeable as one gets older.

These changes can have a negative effect on a person's appearance. They can cause the person to look tired and much older. Oculoplastic surgeons and opthalmologists are the ones who typically perform this procedure. However, general plastic surgeons and oral and maxillofacial surgeons may also

You should schedule an appointment with your doctor if you are interested in this procedure. Your doctor can evaluate you for medical problems that are caused by your eyelids. If you are not getting a blepharoplasty for medical reasons, then you will need to discuss your expectations with your doctor.

You may be a good candidate for a blepharoplasty if you have sagging or drooping around the eyes. This is often caused by the natural aging process. There are also conditions that can worsen sagging skin around the eyes, such as edema or allergies.

Because the aging process will not stop after you get a blepharoplasty, the results of it will not last forever. There are a number of factors that affect how long the results of this procedure lasts. However, it typically lasts about 10 years.

Keep in mind that medical conditions may make you an unsuitable candidate for a blepharoplasty. It is also important to note that smokers are at a greater risk for complications. If you smoke, then you will be advised to quit several weeks before this
