Blame In Shakespeare's The Tragedy Of Romeo And Juliet

Who was to truly blame in William Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet? Was it the misconception of a misunderstood Montague? Or maybe the culprit was a court-less Capulet? Or possibly the troublesome Tybalt. The main characters are: Romeo, Juliet, Tybalt, Friar Laurence, Nurse, Lady Capulet, Sir Capulet, Mercutio, Benvolio, Lady Montague, Sir Montague. In Romeo and Juliet, Romeo and Juliet encounter each other and fall in love. They marry and later, in the same day, Romeo is banished because he kills Tybalt. The two lovers then try to run away but their plan is poorly organized and they both kill themselves in the end. There are multiple reasons for their deaths because there wasn’t just one event to help contribute to their deaths. First, Tybalt. Tybalt was too honorable and he also seemed like he had a bloodlust because he wants to fight Romeo, and Montagues in general. Tybalt discovers Romeo at the Capulet’s celebration party, and says he is going to fight him but is stopped, “Uncle this is a Montague, our foe:/ A villain that is hither come in spite/ To scorn at our solemnity this night”(1.5.59-61). Tybalt is mostly to blame for causing a domino effect, leading to Romeo’s banishment. Friar Laurence is also to blame. He plans very poorly and seems like he could have done so much more to prevent the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Romeo was also to blame. Romeo was very quick to decide to marry Juliet and completely disregards the idea of sexual abstinence. All because of this six people died.
