Colleagues, Gene Autry (and Aerosmith, for what it’s worth) famously sang, “I’m back in the saddle again.” Today, the Arizona Legislature got back in its saddle as the 53rd Legislature, First Regular Session gaveled in for the first time today at noon. The day’s activities had that “first day of school” feeling and was largely pomp and circumstance. Members were officially sworn-in, speeches were made, and family and friends were introduced.…

The 45th annual BattleFrog Fiesta Bowl features two of college football’s top traditional powers. On New Years Day, the Ohio State Buckeyes and Notre Dame Fighting Irish will battle in sunny Glendale, Ariz. Ohio State The Buckeyes saw their College Football Playoff hopes disappear when Michigan State Spartans kicker Michael Geiger hit a 41-yard field goal as time expired in the Horseshoe on Nov. 21. Despite the fact Urban Meyer's team would no longer hold a top four ranking, the loss to Michigan State may have been the best thing that happened to Ohio State this season. Dealing with adversity is the only way to grow as a team, a notion implied by University of Michigan head football coach Jim Harbaugh as he once referenced a quote from “The Lion King”: "The past can hurt.…

I received word that three more Buckeyes were arrested for trespassing yesterday afternoon. However, whereas the students arrested earlier this month surrendered with little fight, yesterday’s arrestees responded with bricks aimed toward officers’ bodies and patrol cars. By this point in the semester, many of our readers are aware of the efforts currently being made by Ohio State University’s students of color to convince administration that the school would benefit from the creation of an Ethnic Studies Department.…

This is a photocopy of a log sheet I filled out in October. Log sheets are used in Maple High School’s cooperative education program to keep track of how many hours a student works at their co-op placement each week. This is an extremely important document because if I do not hand this in at the end of the week, none of the hours I worked for that week will count towards the 190 work hours I must complete by the end of this semester. By performing this task, I am able to improve and perfect my personal management skills which are essential for me to have in all aspects of life (i.e. at home, in school, and at work). If I improve my personal management skills now at my co-op placement, I will have strong personal management skills later in life.…

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to attend North Dakota State University. My dad and sister are NDSU alumni, so furthering my education where they did provides us with a unique bond. Additionally, not many of my relatives attended college, allowing me to see the difficulties in providing for oneself and family without a college degree. Although I know the next seven years are going to be challenging, extremely strenuous, and will push me to the edge of my comfort zone, the satisfaction of administering medical services to those who need them will make it worthwhile. Not only will I be able to care for others with a Pharm.…

My time at Barnegat High School has helped me to become who I am today and will most defiantly impact what I will do in the future. The teachers and my peers have all been an influence on my life and during the four years that I spent at the school, I have done some things for the school and the community as a way to thank them for giving me the opportunities that they have. It was they who pushed me to keep trying and striding to succeed and without them, I would not have accomplished what I have today. One of the things that I am most proud of doing is helping to bring new clubs and activities to Barnegat High School. This year, with the help of other students and advisors, a new club made it into the ranks of the diverse sea of clubs and groups that already exist.…

All things considered, today was, to abridge, tiring. What's more, miserable. I stay here, writing in this diary at the foot of Jem's bed, viewing over him as he dozes, his rest gradually helping his arm to recuperate, now that Dr. Reynolds has gauzed it. Thinking back judiciously and sensibly, I feel no lament for my activities - in helping Tom Robinson, or in the way I've brought up my youngsters - I just feel an unfolding compassion and disillusionment for the man who had, looking in context, began this entire emergency.…

The day of August 27, 2012 I was officially titled a freshman. One look down those unknown red and blue walls, will forever change my perspective of high school. There was an instant moment of disbelief in my freshman, I was terrified, and no thought came to mind as to how I was going to survive high school for the next four years. Of course I knew it'll be different from my tiny middle school, but will it be like the cliché movies about the upcoming of age, or resemble the happiest times of life. From that first day, I knew I wasn’t like everyone else.…
