Blackfish By Leo Tolstoy: Everyone Thinks Of Changing The World

Have you ever heard the saying from Leo Tolstoy: “Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.” That quote basically means, work on changing yourself before others, because you alone can make a difference, even if it's big or small. That quote could impact Marineland and SeaWorld. Maybe the people who don't like Marineland and/or SeaWorld think that they are hurting the animals, maybe they should just stop going there and inform people on what's happening. When the owner realizes no one is coming there anymore, there’s a chance they’ll shut it down. Reflecting back to the movie, Blackfish, many thoughts come to mind. In the movie, the orcas were trapped in a “bathtub”. Another concern is what would happen to the orcas if they released them into the ocean again? Maybe something good won’t happen. Imagine being trapped in a bathtub for many years, would you like it? Well, the answer is pretty simple; no. When the orcas were being captured, it was devastating because they just capture them for their entertainment purposes and that's not right. If we don't like being trapped, orcas shouldn't be trapped either.

Orcas in captivity experience life way more different than orcas in the wild. That’s because orcas in the wild can get their food whenever they want, but orcas in the parks can only get their food when they do tricks. This is very wrong. What if the trainers decided to let the orcas back into the wild? What would happen to them? Would they survive? Honestly, they wouldn’t survive. The reason being is because since the orcas have gotten so used to doing tricks for their food, they wouldn’t know what to do for food anymore. So basically, they have no other way of getting food and might as well
