“The most disrespected person in America is the black woman. The most unprotected person in America is the black woman. The most neglected person in America is the black woman,” (Malcolm X).
Black people in America have been treated with disrespect and have not been given equal opportunities to their white counterparts. In the past, people of color have not been given the same rights as white people. Today, Black people in America are still being faced with discrimination, racism, injustice in court, police brutality, or simply being black. The Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement raises awareness for these problems that black Americans have to face everyday. People in the U.S.A deface BLM posters with “All Lives Matter”, they call BLM activists terrorist for standing up for what they believe in, or see the movement as racist towards all other races. The Black Lives Matter movement is showing how Black Americans are really being treated and should be taken seriously.
First, the BLM movement brings awareness to the inequalities that Black Americans face. According to Trevor Reichle, a reporter for Liberty Press said,“Since then, the media coverage of police shooting on people of color has skyrocketed, but it’s ignorant in and of itself to assume this is recent phenomenon. This also spawned the beginning of Black Lives Matter movement, an effort to realize change in the treatment of black people by the authorities and to hold those that shoot unarmed black people without a valid…
