Black users of social media are influential ones. They have cultivated a voice on various social media channels that displays black culture to the mainstream perhaps now more than ever. The #BlackTwitter phenomenon is the clearest example of this. On Twitter, much of the black community participates in this sharing of cultural voice, humor and ideas. Largely made up of humorous memes, inside jokes, and hashtags, tweets that are a part of #BlackTwitter are often some of the most retweeted and liked.
