Black Students Fall Behind Identity Essay

Identity, is unique sign based on a person’s personality and characteristic that makes people commemorate him. The modern culture is responsible for people’s identity and the sense of worth. Fashion decides what people have in common, what people hated. Many factors result in the teenagers; Pressures, friends, or how the society treats them. For me, self position and capabilities have a significant effect that deviates from other influences. As Melissa Looper suggests in the article “Facing Identity Conflicts,Black students Fall Behind”. I’m stating that the black students are having a fixed mindset about their identity, because of the position in the society, and the ability to accomplish things. Long time stereotype made them perplexed and confused about who they really are. These students start questioning their rights, abilities, wealth, and even their value. Gradually, the bad influence weakened their role in the society. But fortunately, there are people who negotiates between the common sense and the confused realization. My experience with the math test taught me dignity is gained by hard working and the respectfulness of other people. Now, I understand why some people are not confident about himself; They don’t have this awareness of becoming better and stronger, as Carol Dweck states “ Those who have a growth mindset are much more resilient and persistent” In the article Think of a Brain as a Muscle.Overall, identity is a self approval.
