Black Spider Monkey Research Paper

My topic is about Spider Monkeys, I used a book from my library called Macmillan Illustrated Animal Encyclopedia. The editor is Whitfield, Dr. Philip, and the publisher was Macmillan Publishing Company New York, 1984. My subtopic is about the Black Spider Monkey’s habitat, the forest. The Black Spider Monkey’s range is Northern South America to Brazil and Bolivia. The Black and Woolly Spider Monkey frequently swing through the trees and are rarely on the ground and feed in the trees, on fruits and nuts. The Black Spider Monkey can grow to 40-60 cm in the body and it’s tail can grow to 60-80 cm. The Black Spider Monkey has long limbs is the most adept and acrobatic of all new world monkeys (Dr.Philip 64). It’s long legs and arms help it swing in the trees and it uses it’s long strong tail as another limb to hang from tree tops. It doesn’t have a thumb like most monkeys but it doesn’t affect it much considering it uses it’s tail as an extra limb. The Black Spider Monkeys only have one baby on an average of 20 weeks. “The baby is dependent on its mother for about 10 months or so.” The baby for a short period of its life will live on its mother’s back being held until it can depend on themselves to get food and protect themselves.
