The specific effect of the image is the simplicity of the black and white scheme; a black border surrounding white words could also be a metaphor for the Black Panther Party’s ideals; keeping a sense of unity in the black community against the white dominated society in which we live in. With a fierce, determined panther on the prowl in the center of the logo, the Black Panther Party is showing that they mean business. Because the image is easy to print, the logo could be circulated through mass production with little to no worry of it being too complicated to recreate. Many know him by his militant mentality, “by any means necessary” approach to getting equal rights and respect for blacks in America. However, Malcolm X believed in more than just violence, he stood for justice and equality. Right before his assassination, he took the pilgrimage to Mecca that all Muslims must do, and there in the holy city, he remarked how he prayed, talked, and ate with Muslims of all different races and ethnicities. He had to change some of his previous ideals and thoughts, but these are things that must take place when a revelation has happened. Truly, we must judge people for their character, rather than the color of their skin; we must all come to the realization that we all are human beings living together on this earth. This is the conclusion that Malcolm X, one of the influencers of the Black Panther Party came to understand. His assassination was a tragic occurrence indeed, one that sparked even more anger within the Black Panther Party. The party had numerous run ins with the local and federal authorities, and the party disagreed on internal affairs and eventually disbanded. To finalize the demise of the party, the founder, Huey Newton, was fatally shot in 1989. However, the death of Newton did not mark the complete annihilation of the party; the New Black Panther Party was founded in Dallas, Texas by Dr. Khallid Abdul
