Black Month History

Having the pleasure to enjoy the wonderful Tampa Museum of Art was the enlightening of the week. I had the opportunity to join a tour, and get the information behind each artwork. By knowing that information it gave me understanding of most of the artwork. Each portrait I observed had many views of the art. Each artist and photographer gave a different concept, and meaning behind the picture. Through the tour I adored collectively all the visual art. There were many that caught my eye.
From the beginning, the photo of Ernie Banks and Jackie Robinson token by Ernest Withers was amazing. With it being Black Month History I thought it would be the perfect artwork to observe. From the photo I learned information about Black History that I was not aware of. Ernie Banks was the first African American to join on the Chicago Cubs professional baseball team. The way the photographer use the camera to contrast the different lighting let you be able to notice who the portrait was center around. Most of his artwork that we viewed seemed to have abstract of nature to the photo. While evaluating the photo the symbols of the dark background, gives the artwork a suspicious message. The artist included these dark creepy looking birds in two of his artwork gave the theme of human nature, especially with birds looking like they are flying away from something. In all six artwork it was a repetition of the color schemes of dark colors. Adding the complexity of nature with the fire, air in the photos help me identify the classical elements of the photo. When exploring this artwork I decided to read the title last to see if I notice a different from reading first and I did.
