In Black Mirror’s Nosedive, the authors suggest that people create a fake persona to please their peers instead of revealing their true identity. In other words, people are fake. Hoping to get her rating boosted, Lacie, the main character in Nosedive, fully occupies herself with pleasing other people in ways such as smiling and laughing excessively at their comments and constantly giving everybody a five-star rating in hopes of them returning the favor.
