Black lives matter: a term used nationwide that began a revolution. Incidents from across the country that involve discrimination against the African American race, have instigated people to join the Black Lives matter movement. Following the unfortunate death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, the African American community was in an uproar. From the beginning of time black lives have been valued less than others due to the prejudice and racism that our societies are drowned in. Regardless of the numerous efforts to desegregate our communities, the human race ceases to change their old values for the common well-being of humanity. If beginning a movement targeted for even one race can make a difference, I as a running candidate for President of this school, agree that is should be acted on. The Black Lives matter movement, even though targeted towards the African American race, can prove to be be beneficial for all races. Racism and discrimination has evolved into a detrimental problem in this country as a whole whether it is in schools, workplaces, or public locations. If the message of accepting all races and achieving equality in our nation is repeated enough through this movement, there is a chance that it will finally begin to stick. As President of this school I would want to promote security within our community and guarantee that all students receive equal opportunities to grow and obtain equal rights.
