“BlackLivesMatter is... intended to build connections between Black people and our allies to fight anti-Black racism, to spark dialogue among Black people, and to facilitate the types of connections necessary to encourage social action and engagement,” (Garza, Tometi, Cullors 2012). This quote was made directly by the founders of the Black Lives Matter movement. This movement was created in response to, or some may say, in vengeance of Trayvon Martin. "Terrorism is defined as 'the use of violence and intimidation in pursuit of political aims,'" read the "We The People" petition. This definition is the same definition used to declare ISIS and other groups as terrorist organizations. Black Lives Matter, the petition said, "earned this title due to its actions in Ferguson, Baltimore, and even at a Bernie Sanders rally, as well as all over the United States and Canada." It asked the Pentagon to recognize the group as such "on the grounds of principle, integrity, morality, and safety," (Flores 2016). Five black men and two white men approached a group of seven white men shouting, “Black Lives Matter!” and then begin to viciously attack these men. This incident occurred on August 21, 2016, at 12:30 a.m. Both Akron police and University of Akron officers arrested all seven men who then received both rioting and aggravated assault charges. The men who were attacked were found to be innocent of any wrongdoings in the police report. Nonetheless, having been beat with bottles, kicked, and punched some have been admitted to hospitals and have not yet recovered. The presumed innocent now suffer from injuries and wounds based on blind rage aimed solely on the color of one’s skin. This aim then creates a pathological cycle throughout the minds of all people to racially profile others whether it’s to protect white supremacists, black communities, or even those who are innocent of any racial misconduct at all.
