Black Lives Matter Movement!
The new racism is to deny that racism exists. "The violence is not new, it 's the cameras that are new." ~ Ta-Nehisi Coates. This quote is so humble but yet so powerful because violence always occurred in the past, but today society the cameras change the way people think.
In 2013, a movement that goes by the name Black Lives Matter began to promote their motto against police brutality and justice. This movement started shortly after the Trevon Martin case, when a black teen (Trevon Martin) was shot and killed by a security guard George Zimmerman, while walking home late at night. Trevon was unarmed, but according to Zimmerman he stated that Trevon was looking suspicious and thought that he had a weapon. Zimmerman was acquitted in July 2013, three black women Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors and Opal Tometi reacted by posting #BlackLivesMatter on social media. This posting cause media attention across the country, but more striking than the slogan’s ability to express so much in so few words is how painful it is that its message needs to be asserted.
The movement is being supported by people of color media and even corporations such as B.E.T. Yes, all lives matter, but, to me what “Black lives Matter” means that we are human beings, and our lives means just as much as the white race, and just as any other race in the world we deserve to be treated fair and should be treated like we are like human beings.
