white, instead of black vs. black, or white vs. white. Not all crimes are just black vs. white. There are more white on white crimes then what the news states (Sampson, 1). These stories are released to raise controversy among viewers. This is because the stations make money by the number of viewers that are watching. So, many ideas shown by society is not because of facts, but instead to cause controversy over the Black Lives Matter movement. Freire stated in his article on the Philosophy of Education, we are taught to accept what is shown to us as facts and to take them as our education. Big news stations like NBC, BBC, and CBS will sometimes advertise a black person being shot or being put in jail. Though many of these times are only when a white male is the culprit for doing the shooting or is the police officer. I remember watching something on Facebook from another African American male. His name was Terrence Williams, and he went ranting about things African Americans were saying about whites. These would include being racist, saying slang terms, and even simple gestures. Though during this, Terrance Williams once stated, “Do black lives really matter? On the news you always hear about how bad cops or how another black person was killed by a Caucasian man. But in reality, it’s not their fault. If black lives matter, then why don’t you hear about the little kid that got murdered by gang activity in the back ally, or about the violence on streets from rival drug lords. It happens, but when someone gets confronted by the police about it, its hush hush. Nobody wants to say anything on the subject...” (Williams, July 11th). Do black lives really matter? If they did, why would the rival drug dealer not say something to the authorities, or the bystander who saw the murder of the kid in the ally say something to the media?
