Patricia bath’s parents were Rupert bath and Gladys bath. Rupert bath was the first African American motorman for the New york subway system. Gladys bath was a housewife and a domestic worker who used her salary to save up money for her children’s education.Bath was encouraged by her family members to pursue her academic interest. Bath’s mother piqued the young girl’s interest by buying her a chemistry set. Patricia bath was also a very domestic worker growing up. Her parents never had a lot of money when they were growing up.
Patricia bath worked hard for everything she accomplished.at the age of sixteen, she became one of the few students to attend a cancer research workshop.the program head, Dr.Robert Benard was so impressed by her discoveries during the project that he incorporated her findings in a scientific paper that he used it in a conference. That same year she was named “Howard University Pioneer in Academic Medicine.”Among Patricia Bath’s many roles in the medical field, she is a strong advocate of telemedicine, which uses technology to provide medical services. Patricia bath is still alive to this day, she is still in good condition and she is 75 years old. Although, her husband died two years ago from old age.
