Black Friday Weekend Business Analysis

Decent Essays
I have never worked retail and feel bad for many who do work Black Friday weekend. I spent a little time in the stores these past few days and the arguments between customers turn me off from store shopping. Two of my sisters manage box stores (Old Navy and Menards), this is the time of year when they both wish to be on vacation. Dealing with pricing issues, employees not showing up for work, and a constant eye for individuals stealing are just a few of the issues. However both say that tracking of materials for their stores has improved greatly over the years. The system tracking sales has helped them order and track materials. Their ability to track and forecast does help when ordering for this time of the year.

The four retailers that I used for my comparison are Target, Dillons, Hyvee, and Walmart. The items I chose to compare at these retailers are 2% milk, Eggs, Turkey, Hot dog buns, Ketchup, Mayo and Brownie mix. I found it interesting to see the different variety from store to store as well as the price differences. The first retailer I went to was Target. Target would be considered a supercenter because they provide some grocery items as well as clothes, home décor, and toys.…

Black Friday open on Thanksgiving? Even though people enjoy shopping I think stores should still be closed because the shoppers can't spend time with family and because people can get hurt… Shopping on Thanksgiving can be fun… I guess? But really is it. When you should be thankful for the things you have you are out fighting over stuff that you probably don’t need. Too me stores should be closed because people get hurt or worse killed and that is pretty sad over shopping.…

Candles are best when burning the brightest, but ultimately melt quicker until it is burnt out, like the 1920’s American economy. After a flourishing era of the 20’s, the Crash of 1929 created devastation within the already fragile financial system until the effects of the dwindling economy instigated the Great Depression. Due to the disillusioned impact of World War I on U.S. economy, the Stock Market’s Black Tuesday brought many Americans during the 1920’s years of worldwide economic and social ruin; as well as the strong negative backlash that eventually caused World War II.…

This is my argument about stores who are tracking shoppers. Do you think it's bad that stores are gathering data from your phone? I don't think it's bad they are sending you discounts on merchandise that you may like but can't afford. Also if you don't want the stores to gather data just turn your phone off. Some people say that ¨you're being spied on, the stores are stalking you , and it's invading your privacy.”…

With the holidays around the corner and the biggest shopping night of the year companies need to plan what they want to sell on their shelves months ahead. By having excellent inventory management these companies in so many industries are able to become more successful. I agree with the statement, inventory management is the heart of the supply chain which has been said by many business experts. Without proper inventory management issues can and will occur upstream and downstream of the supply chain. Companies have been able to reduce costs by properly managing their inventory, “Hewlett Packard achieved more than $130 million in total inventory savings” (supplychain) Companies that properly use an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system are able to have visibility of what inventory they have throughout their company.…
