Black Friday is an unofficial holiday that is celebrated in some states and known for its major sales in stores. Black Friday originated from Philadelphia, and the term was used to describe the rowdy traffic that usually occurred the day after Thanksgiving. (Wikipedia, Black Friday). In about 20 or more years later, the term became even more popular. At first, Black Friday was not actually “The Busiest Shopping Day” that you call today, in the United States. According to Daily News Lifestyle (5 of the worst things that have happened during the Black Friday madness), an employee at Walmart in Valley Steam, New York was crushed to death by a “mob of shoppers”, in 2013. Another incident that has happened on this day was also something that occurred in Walmart, but occurred in Los Angeles, California in 2011. This was triggered by a woman who supposedly fired pepper spray at shoppers because they attacked both of her teenage children. Her son was seen to be on the ground, getting beat up by a man and his daughter (ABC News, Black Friday Pepper Sprayer Elizabeth Macias Threatens to Sue Walmart). Black Friday has had a total of 10 deaths and 105 injuries, which continues to increase to this day (blackfridaydeathcount.com).
