Black Friday is the Friday after Thanksgiving and is the biggest shopping day of the year. There are many explanations as to how Black Friday got its name. At one time people believed it was derived from slavery with the Friday after Thanksgiving being the day the slaves were sold. But the origins of the biggest shopping day of the year goes to the city of Philadelphia. The term “Black Friday” was originally created by employees of businesses calling off sick for a long holiday weekend. Later it was appointed Black Friday in reference to the amount of people shopping on the weekend after Thanksgiving. The final meaning of Black Friday was named after the high amount of sales and profits the retailer had on that day to take them to from a negative in the sales which was identified with red ink to positive sales which is identified with black ink. …show more content…
Well, it actually get earlier every year as more and more stores are opening on Thanksgiving Day still calling the specials “Black Friday Sales”. Why do people go out on to shop on Black Friday? Bargains are to be had on some items that are at such great prices that people can’t resist the attempt to purchase the items. So we ask ourselves “why do people shop on Black Friday”? There are so many people that have used this day as a tradition to get ahead of the game with buying Christmas presents. There are friends and family that get together this day every year to shop but it’s more than just shopping. It’s a time to enjoy the time with friends and family. It sometimes is a bonding time for family’s that might live distances away. It’s a way to socialize and still get some shopping
