Even though people enjoy shopping I think stores should still be closed because the shoppers can't spend time with family and because people can get hurt… Shopping on Thanksgiving can be fun… I guess? Too me stores should be closed because people get hurt or worse killed and that is pretty sad over shopping. Some incidents that have happened are “A 29-year-old shopper was pepper sprayed and arrested in a New Jersey Walmart.’’ That shows you that it can be dangerous. Another thing is “Police say five people got in a fight for an unknown reason at 1 am.” And one more is Authorities

My Favorite Holiday Thanksgiving is officially my favorite Holiday. There are two main reasons why I enjoy Thanksgiving so much; food and family. First, the food, my mouth waters from the thought of it! Succulent and juicy turkey, cold fresh country ham, velvety creamed corn, fluffy buttery mashed potatoes, creamy yams, flakey biscuits, and rich green bean casserole. Gathering around my grandparent's large dining room table with family and close friends of the family will always fill me with warmth.…

Have you ever noticed how in the stores you will see a plethora of Halloween costumes, decorations and the like but immediately following Halloween, you see Christmas themed decorations all over and very little to commemorate Thanksgiving? The most I've seen have had leaves and maybe a cornucopia and really only enough scattered throughout the store to fill a half to one whole aisle. It seems that our national holiday is only truly named and observed within "leaked" black friday ads, alerting you to when the advertised deals start. This never really bothered me in the past. As a little girl Thanksgiving was all about the Macy's Parade, the dog show, food, and the countdown until santa claus and presents galore.…

In our society, there are unwritten social norms that people tend to follow. These social norms are sort a like guideline rules on what is appropriate and what is not appropriate and also how someone’s behavior is like in different types of situations. For an example, it is an acceptable norm to leave a tip of at least fifteen percent when you’re done eating at a restaurant. However, if you choose to not leave a tip that would be considered a violation of the norm but it will not earn you a spot in the jail cell.…

Americans and others around the world are often struck with what is deemed “shopaholic syndrome.” The symptoms of this are spending preposterous amounts of time and money shopping. To treat this, a Buy Nothing Day was conceived and established in some countries. As the name implies, it is day when people choose to buy nothing to fight against and raise awareness of overconsumption and growing consumerism in our world. There are a myriad of flaws in the logic of the Buy Nothing Day; therefore, the Buy Nothing Day is not the transcendent solution to this problem.…

The pursuit of wealth and greed for large organizations often has no limitations on the treatment of workers. Parmar’s article, Labouring the Walmart Way, brings up many valid points on how large companies such as Walmart treat employees unjustly. However, he is unable to create an article that deters people from continuing to shop there, as the arguments don’t cause the reader to feel compelled not to shop there. There are better arguments to convince people, such as the treatment and equality of women workers, manufacturing sector and treatment of workers and destruction of communities.…

However, there are many more factors that contribute to an accidental or intentional use of excessive and sometimes deadly force. One of them is lack of proper training and adequate control in police departments (Lee & Vaughn, 2010, p.193). For instance, some police departments failed to provide their officers with training where they would acquire communication skills regarding mentally ill or emotionally unstable individuals (p.201). Lastly, Bernasconi (2014, p.146) suggested that the media also play a large role in the exaggeration of facts and overrepresentation of certain individuals that can induce police officers’ emotions of fear and leads them to commit thoughtless split-second decisions. All things considered, there are many social,…
