Tom went into the country where no one could see him and because he was upset about Beckey treating him like dog. When he was in the country he thought it would be cool if he was a pirate and the reason he wanted to be a pirate because then he would be famous. Then he pulled a marble out of a box and put it in the log that he had found and Tom said “ what hasn’t come here come here and what's here stays here. The reason he did that was because other kids that would put the marbles in log ,they would come back and there would be more marbles in the log.
