After this week's reading the birth-order that best describes me is that of oldest children. This is true to my actual birth order too. Some of the aspects Alder speaks about that are true for me once my siblings came I instantly became the helper, not to mention a role model for them as well. I became the contributor once I graduated with my bachelors degree, before that I did not have to contribute much because I was always away for school. Being a leader felt second nature tome I was put into those roles long before I knew what it really meant and I continue to be in a leadership role now. As the book states I am scholarly and compliant, of course! Some of the things that aren't true for me would be the aggressive characteristics I tend

As Tracy mentioned, Order Sets work great and save a lot of time. I can see when things have to be specific to each patient, Order Sets would not work. I work in Labor and Delivery, and most patients are in and out, so Order Sets work great. When the doctors enter an inpatient admission to Labor and Delivery, it includes: Admit order, Vital Signs, Activity, Fetal Monitoring, Diet, Labs, and Medications. Having to enter/click only one order compared to 7+ is much more time efficient, and prevents errors.…

Birth Order "The one thing you can bet your paycheck on is that the firstborn and second born in any given family are going to be different," (Voo 1). Doctor Leman, a psychologist that has been studying birth order since 1967 has noted this throughout his years of research. Whether first born, middle child, or the youngest in a family, there are going to be certain personality traits that are commonly found in a person depending on the order of their birth. For an example, usually it can be quite difficult to find a comedian that is a first born child (Cowley 17) because usually the youngest is the more of the out going person and not as much of a conscientious and structured person.…

    1. Recently, I have been involved in several activities that exemplify leadership. These include renovating the art display case in the vocational building to represent our school’s eagle creed, attending lessons every weekend which indoctrinate leadership skills for students, and joining several extracurricular activities within the school. The most prominent one, however, would be entering high school and seamlessly maintaining and even bettering my grades while in Honors classes.…

I am a middle child. I was born two years after my sister Meredith, and Caleigh came six years after me. Within my family and friends, I am known as the quiet, quintessential middle child. For the first 16 years of my life, I was always an afterthought to the craziness of the first-born and the baby of the family, and I loved it‒ it made me independent and self-reliant. I was very comfortable being the easy-going child, happily accepting anything that came my way.…

Critical thinker, problem solver, well mannered, mature, caring, respectful, patient, and disciplined are all words I would use to describe myself, Matthew Jacob Taylor. I was not always like that I’ve had many experiences and help from amazing parents over the years to change my personality, world views, and emotions to what they are today. I’ve always felt older than the other students in my grade even thought I was one of the youngest in my class. What made me that way was working with my self-employed successful dad. He would take me to his work starting at age 4 telling me if I work hard and make the right choices the family business can be mine.…

Misfitting Twin I was born through a caesarean section, but I had to be removed first due to issues I was having in the womb, so I will say, for this purpose, that I was born first. I do believe that the Birth Order Theory should include a twin aspect to it because, from experience, the two rely heavily on each other, especially at early ages. This can lead, in my opinion to different quality traits than currently presented under this theory. The Birth Order Theory describes first-born sons as assertive people with an outward personality.…

Do you ever wonder why the older siblings usually get better grades and the younger siblings are usually more independent, and carefree? After reading many different sources, it is clear that birth order has an effect on how kids act and what their personalities are. “The Achiever, the Peacemaker and the Life of the Party: How Birth Order Affects Personality” by Dr. Gail Gross, and “firstborns get intellectual advantage over younger siblings, study finds” by A. Pawlowski, all give numerous pieces of evidence that supports why each kid is treated differently by their parents, and why their parents have different expectations in school. These are only a couple reasons why birth order affects how kids do in school and affects their personalities.…

Love it or hate it, it won't ever go away. No, not the angst of those extra 10 pounds; what I'm talking about is conflict. The fact is that as long as we are alive and breathing it will be there, often when we least expect it and especially when we don't want it. It is as natural to relationships as caring. In fact, if you really understand the essence of conflict, it is actually good for you.....at least when you look back at what you learned from it.…
