As a matter of fact, scientist are working on figuring out how to modify a gene in the human body to prevent sperm, or eggs, from being active. The gene is ran by proteins, and it tells the gene to be hyperactive, but if scientist can take the gene out, or modify it, then they can disable the gene from being active at all until a protein is connected with it. The most dangerous side effect that the pill form for women has caused is blood clotting. This recently has happened to a young women who went on a trip to Europe, and then came back with sever pains in her leg that was caused by blood clotting. The doctor ran a sonogram and found out that the blood clotting was caused by her birth control. This was not the only time that this has occurred. It has occurred in approximately 1 in every 50 women in the united states that are on the pill form of birth control. No matter how scientist tried tweaking the pill blood clotting still occurred. However, when using the imp anon form of birth control blood clotting only occurs for 1 out of every 3,000 American women. If scientist could take this form of birth control and turn it into a form for men then it may be more effective. Scientist believe that if they take the implanon form of birth control, and turn it into a male form, then birth control would be more effective, and there would be less complications than if the men were to take a pill form. The other factor contributing is that the implanon form last way longer than the pill form. As previously stated the implanon last for three years at a time, but the pill has to be taken daily, and is given out in monthly
