The data collected for the wind speed had significant difference. We can conclude that based off the data for the temperature and wind, the amount of birds that were located within a specific area was effected. After, examining the data for the species of birds found, the results have proven that the null hypotheses has been rejected based off the species representation. The initial hypothesis was that there would be more birds located in the Winthrop lake area, than in the golf course area. The data collected in this investigation was mostly quantitative that included recorded numbers of the amount of bugs in each dish over the thirty minutes with five minute increments. The trend of movement of the sow bugs were mostly concentrated in the leaf dish and the controlled dish. The lower concentrations of the sow bugs were found in the rock and wood habitats. Another trend is that the rock dish had the most stabilizing population, whereas other dishes had influxes before stabilizing like with the leaf dish as shown in figure 1. The dish that received the most bugs over the experimental time were the leaf and dirt dish with an average of 2.5 whereas the other dishes had an average of one as shown in figure 2.…
The data shows that once the round goby was introduced to the ecosystem the native species began to decline. The four native species in lab were perch, bass, bluegill, and walleye. Each species had to use a different utensil to collect food. The perch used one plastic spoon, the bass used two knives, the bluegill used one fork, and the walleye used two forks. The mesopredator release hypothesis seems to be more exclusive to members of the canid community, as the relationship between coyotes and raccoons appeared a bit more complex in this study. There was not one recorded raccoon death due to predatory behavior of a coyote across this entire study. While this study aimed to determine if coyotes acted as a biocontrol for overpopulated “mesopredators” such as raccoons, the results put into question such an assertion and prove the first hypothesis of this study to not be supported since not one raccoon was recorded as being killed by a coyote. The black-capped chickadees (Parus atricapillus) are a songbird that can be observed throughout North America and remain year round even during the cold winters (Templeton, Greene, & Davis, 2005, 1935). Urbanization played a prominent role in flycatcher habitat selection and use as numbers were negatively related to amount of urban development in the landscape. Selection criteria for the flycatchers also varied by spatial scale. Vegetation and prey abundance were more important to the flycatcher on a microsite scale, for nest site or territory selection, than on any larger scale.
