The first step to fixing a problem is realizing that there is one. Until the rest of America sees this as a problem, it will not be fixed. We cannot fix what is not known and we cannot change the mind of those who are uneducated.
Education is the second step in my plan of action. I do not believe that people are truly educated on the topic of race or discrimination. Children are not being educated in the classroom or at home. We can fix the children not being educated in the classroom by educating the teachers and staff. When we educate the teachers and staff we can educate the parents. Once a child learns something in their household, that is what it becomes. Transformational leadership is ““The ability to get people to want to change, to improve, and to be led. It involves assessing others’ motives, satisfying needs, and valuing them”(Northouse, 2007, p. 178)”. The transformation of the ideals and basis of peoples thoughts on biracial individuals would literally need to transform so that they would be able to see a different perspective about them.
I believe that Motivational Theory is a huge part of my action plan working because after people are educated, the intentionality of the masses will be led by motivation. That motivation will come from leaders across the board and they will be “skilled motivators [able] to find success in his or her endeavors to create
