Bipolarism: A Rising Problem In Today's World

The MYP Personal Project is a project completed by all students in Grade 10, and marks the end of the MYP years. This project aims to demonstrate the personal abilities and skills required by a student to produce an extended piece of work. When I was first introduced to the MYP personal project in Grade 9, I saw myself doing nothing other than creating a short film or video. Growing up, I have always been intrigued by the psychology of mental disorders and how people affected are able to deal with them on a daily basis. From watching documentaries to socially interacting with people with mental disorders, I have always taken an interest to what exactly it is that makes them different from the rest of us. Through my video, I want to raise awareness about the rising number of cases of Bipolarism and get my target audience, the general public, to have a basic understanding of what Bipolarism really is. To help me with my project, I developed four guiding questions, which were:
1. What is Bipolarism, and why is it a rising problem in today’s world?
2. What are the early signs and symptoms of Bipolarism?
3. How can the people around those affected help Bipolar Individuals?
4. How can I use Final Cut Pro to help me create an effective Public Service Announcement video on Bipolarism? I also created a set of specifications, which stated some of the requirements the video needed to have. Video Specifications: Some of these specifications were that the video should: - Be able to convey to the audience, a basic message on what Bipolarism is.
- Be filmed using a NIKON D90 Camera and a NIKON Coolpix 850 Camera.
- Have a balance of creative and informative output. (creativity = information balance)
- Be edited using Final Cut
