Biosecurity Measures

Improved Essays
Thousands of helpless native species have been brought to a tragic ruin throughout history due to countless invasive species that are often intentionally brought into new environments in order to bring about better change, yet they only ever seem to cause everything to get worse. This is why the federal government should develop effective biosecurity measures by increasing international and national funding because it will save thousands of defenseless native species from becoming extinct, and it would reduce the damage being done to farms, forests, and fisheries.
Developing effective biosecurity measures is the most efficient way to combat invasive species. Biosecurity measures include hiring certified boat inspectors to safely decontaminate

An invasive species is a foreign species that gets transported, whether intentional or not, to a new ecosystem.…

Florida's Everglades is very important to us. Without the Everglades peoples water supply will go to risk, we wouldn’t have a natural buffer to help prevent the damage of hurricanes, and people would dump their unwanted pets causing problems to our food chains. Without the Everglades or wetlands people will be risking their water supply. People don’t realize that when they are polluting the Everglades they are not just harming the Everglades but they are also harming themselves. People nearby use that water for their water supply and if people are constantly polluting the Everglades then these people are bathing, drinking, and playing in polluted water.…

Introduction Southwest Florida's ecosystem consists of warm temperate waters and a subtropical climate that attracts the majority of the generalist species. Generalist species are species that can adapt to a variety of locations without needing certain foods to eat or certain climates to survive in. Attracting generalist species that do not belong a part of Southwest Florida's ecosystem concludes in an unbalanced environmental system. My interest in this topic was the certitude that if we continue to surmise that this issue will not affect us, it will cease in an extremely negative way. It is crucial to inflate the effects invasive species have on our ecosystem to prevent any more harm to the environment.…

Invasive species are non-native species of plants and animals introduced to an ecosystem usually by humans. The invasive species can thrive in an ecosystem where there are little to no natural predators and an abundance of resources. Due to these factors the invasive species can dominate an ecosystem and disrupt its natural balance and cause major harm to all of the other species in that ecosystem.…

What is an invasive species? According to the National Invasive Species Management Plan, an invasive species is defined as “a species that is non-native to the ecosystem under consideration and whose introduction causes or is likely to cause economic or environmental harm or harm to human health”. Invasive species will look like they belong in the environment they are taking over, however, more than likely they are over-powering a native species in their own habitat. Would you be able to identify one of the species I’m about to discuss? North America has more than twenty-nine hundred invasive species in our environment today.…
