Bioscience Personal Statement

Decent Essays
Most of what I have learned about bioscience is from classes, personal effort to learn about it, and a medical etymology course provided by Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth which included bioscience where we learned about the human anatomy and what diseases could infect which system.

My interest in bioscience has always been great, biology and chemistry, bio and organic chemistry, in particular, have always been my favorite school subjects, I have always loved learning about the human body, what goes on the inside and how it reacts to even the smallest things a person is subjected to.

Ever since I was young my mom bought me scientific books about everything from astrophysics to microbiology, and ever since I have always loved science,

My choice to have biochemistry as my major was the most logical, because for all of my life I have been interested in what life is composed of. I looked at the incredible things that people and animals do and I found that all the intricate working of biology and chemistry that made all of their actions possible, only added to the awesomeness of it all. Another important factor in my life that started my interest into the science of biology was my mother, who has a genetic anemia called Fanconi Anemia. She has lived with this genetic disease for all of her life and it has had a toll on her quality of life. From my earliest memories she has struggled with blood transfusions and bone marrow biopsies.…

Science is a broad field, that requires extensive research, testable explanations and predictions about universe. Even though I have got minute experience in research, it was a good opportunity to get in the shoes of research scientist for some time. I have got the chance to research only once, in high school. It was my senior year, in AP Chemistry when we started researching microfluidics. Our goal was to make a chip with network of channels and analyze different fluids flow, color and reaction.…

Before attempting to identify “to what degree can a research within the social science be considered scientific” the researcher must first become familiar with what a research is (APUS, 2017). Research is more than a collection of information from a source. Research must project “subjective processes, social relations, and artifacts (including research instruments and methods) enable researchers to objectively comprehend phenomena” (Ratner, 2002). However, the postmodernist contention that the process, relations, and artifacts interfere with objectivity (Ratner, 2002).…

"There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure." -- Colin Powell, our iconic leader and former secretary of state quoted very true statement. In fact, behind every success, there is no any secret connection that helps a person to get ahead, but it is a cumulative effort of many things; motivation, exertion, passion, and desire to achieve it. Besides, during that process never holds back your expectations and persuasions because of fear of failure, or lack of confidence; instead, push yourself to strive for the greatness which leads the path to the success.…

The subject of science has always been an interest of mine, more specifically biology. My love for this subject began to develop during my sophomore year of high school and ever since, the human body has intrigued me. Anatomy has always been a strong point throughout my education, as it came so easily to me. It is extremely fascinating that humans are so similarly structured, being that each and every human contains the same outline. Although humans are internally similar, externally we are able to look so different.…

Additionally, oddly enough, biology connects my love of science with my love of the world around me. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines biology as the “science of things that are alive.” However, beyond a dictionary or science textbook, the word biology means so much more. Biology is the key to understanding the world around us, the people around us and even ourselves. It is a subject that extends far beyond the walls of a classroom and encapsulates the things in my life that have inspired and motivated me.…

Personal Statement Throughout the past year of studying biology at A level, I have become increasingly interested in it. I am fascinated by how complex the human body is and how it works in health and disease. These diseases occur in numerous ways and by studying physiology we can see where normal bodily procedures go wrong and can lead to the development of conditions such as diabetes, asthma or cystic fibrosis. Learning more about these diseases can in turn lead us to finding treatment or cures and hopefully create a better life for future populations.…

Recent technological advances in biology have prompted me to want to study the subject as an undergraduate. I have been drawn to how the world works and what everything is made up of since secondary school, but in recent months my focus has shifted specifically towards the study of genetics. A wide and varied subject, ranging from eugenics and the ethical considerations of genetically engineering organisms, and to the more recent scientific breakthroughs in said area of study, the study of genetics is, without a doubt, a rewarding subject to study. I am enthusiastic about the history of genetics and how genes change over time. In the future I wish to go on to study in detail the different types of genes in humans, as well as in other organisms, and see how they differ.…

Science, unlike other disciples of learning, does not follow a strictly chronologically linear perspective. Where Math and English will follow from point A to point B, science cant start from point C follow to point B back track to point C then follow through to point A. Science is a very interesting subject in that one can start collecting a set of data and follow through to finding a question to answer with this data or start with a question to answer and proceed with collecting data to prove or disprove the originally asked question and find a different one. It allows for understanding of the world around both on a large scale or even that of a small scale. Science is a method of going about with a question and collected data and arriving…

Personal Statement I am writing this Personal Statement in support of my application to study for a Master’s degree in Biochemistry at the California State University Sacramento. My interest in Biochemistry has always been a real world interest, and my desire to study Biochemistry at the Master’s level is likewise fueled by the imperativeness of the subject and the crucial role it plays in our everyday lives. The part I want to play as a Biochemist – in bringing to the world's attention the implications of current health practices, various diseases, and living processes – is in my point of view, the essence of biochemical studies. Society has continued solving challenges, seemingly insurmountable and perhaps more pressing than we have ever faced – I strive to be at the forefront of the “solution-finding” as a research scientist.…

While growing up, science was a prominent part of my life, largely due to the fact that my father is a science teacher. He has taught many subjects in that field like Honors Anatomy, Honor Biology, Physiology, Earth Science, and Physical Science. Due to him being so involved in these subjects, I have always been prompted to ask why and how things are the way they are, and I am also a biology major here at Rogers State. In this semester we have discussed many different areas of life, and read a lot of material. One of the subjects that I found most intriguing of all was…
