Stress is a term that individuals use when encountering negative events. It is used differently for many reasons, and individuals perceive it contrarily depending on the purpose. According to, Hans Selye in the early 1930s, stress is a biopsychosocial model that refers to the consequence of failure of an organism to respond adequately to mental, emotional or physical demands, whether actual or imagined (Seyle, 1982). Stress has been examined for decades as a risk factor for poor physical and mental health outcomes. Perceived stress may be more informative in terms of assessing the magnitude of the stress effect on health because it accounts for variation in response by individuals who experience the same event but are affected differently …show more content…

Research has shown that most Americans would be happier, healthier and safer if they were to sleep an extra 60 to 90 minutes per night.” When it comes to exercise, we generally assume that individuals who work out more, tend to have better health and less likely to stress. This is due to releasing tension and hormones being released during exercise. However, can we say with confidence, with depending on the level of exercise can stress be correlated with strenuous and moderate exercise in males and female. According to G. Godin & R.J. Shepard, researchers’ have been interested in studying physical activity and the level of stress in individuals. Unfortunately, the cost and quality of epidemiological data are either out of date or just over looked.
