Roslyne shares that living in the shelter with her unborn child and 15-year old daughter La Tonya makes her feel inadequate. She blames herself and her estranged husband’s lack of employment and income as the cause of the homelessness, which triggered the depression. Ms. Scott presents as being hopeless and angry. Although, she did reveal that her mother suffered from depression and multiple personality disorder (MPD). Ms. Scott did reveal in November 2012, she received individual outpatient treatment in association with her childhood sexual abuse and reported it was ineffective. Cultural background: Ms. Scott stated she identifies as African American and shares the African American experience. Ms. Scott discussed how poverty and oppression has impact her life. She stated that the transition from childhood to adulthood as an African American, was the “best experience”.
