It is my aim to study biomedical at university. I find the human body intriguing and fascinating, and I am eager to deepen my understanding of its operation at a higher level. I am studying for A-levels in biology, chemistry, maths and music. I thoroughly enjoy these subjects and they are furnishing me with skills which I trust will hold me in good stead as I move on to study biomedical science at undergraduate level. I have been able to sharpen my analytical and observation skills through study of the sciences, especially when conducting various experiments in controlled assessments; mathematics has fostered my ability to reason logically, while music helps me to work as part of a team, develop patience and leadership skills and work under …show more content…
Moreover, I have gained interest in learning the violin and I am currently taking lessons. In school, I am a science and music prefect. As a science prefect, I have been excited to share my knowledge and interest in the sciences by helping to tutor Year 11 students at after-school science clinics. Being a music prefect I have helped the music department with concerts. I am working diligently to attain the highest grades for my A-levels. My predicted grades are not to the best of my standard, but I am confident that with my passion, determination and dedication I can achieve my full potential. It is my wish to pursue a career in academia. After completion of my undergraduate degree in biomedical science I plan on furthering my studies and research interests at postgraduate level. My current interests are in neuropsychiatric disorders and their aetiology, but I want to broaden my knowledge in the sciences before I decide what to specialise in. I am excited to have a clear direction in my academic ambitions. I hope to learn from all the great researchers in medicine’s past, and eventually be able to contribute my own findings to the pool of human

My choice to have biochemistry as my major was the most logical, because for all of my life I have been interested in what life is composed of. I looked at the incredible things that people and animals do and I found that all the intricate working of biology and chemistry that made all of their actions possible, only added to the awesomeness of it all. Another important factor in my life that started my interest into the science of biology was my mother, who has a genetic anemia called Fanconi Anemia. She has lived with this genetic disease for all of her life and it has had a toll on her quality of life. From my earliest memories she has struggled with blood transfusions and bone marrow biopsies.…

Up to the elementary school, my cumulative treasure of science was pertaining mostly theories but hands-on practical started during my Honor Biology labs. The smell of formaldehyde didn't hold me back, to dissect a preserved frog to learn about frog's internal organs. As the human and frog have similarity in their organs' layout. I nailed arms and legs wide open and my scalpel made an incision along the midline of a frog's body from pectoral gland to the pelvis. The entire cavity, filled with organs, showed up.…

Furthermore, my precision and accuracy skills have improved due to carrying out experiments in chemistry lessons. Having taken part in an IR spectroscopy and MR spectrometry workshop I have gained confidence in using complex machinery. As it is required when having to take echo scans and ultrasounds, one which I was given the opportunity to observe in a farm in Portugal which proved to be a truly heartening experience. Studying mathematics as one of my A levels will benefit me greatly as veterinarians are required to make critical mathematical calculations before operating on an animal. For example making an insertion on an animal in the wrong place could result in the severing of an artery or nerve which could render the animal lame.…

When I was a child my parents would always take me to the Science Museum near my home once a week. Going to the science museum and always seeing the different exhibits such as the planetarium and the environmental park peaked my interest in science as a kid. I also remember early in elementary school making a whirlpool by taking two 2 liter bottles and filling one of them with food colored water and then taping them together to show the whirlpool. That childish fascination has not left me but deepened over the years. This interest has led me to my love of science.…

Personal Statement I am writing this Personal Statement in support of my application to study for a Master’s degree in Biochemistry at the California State University Sacramento. My interest in Biochemistry has always been a real world interest, and my desire to study Biochemistry at the Master’s level is likewise fueled by the imperativeness of the subject and the crucial role it plays in our everyday lives. The part I want to play as a Biochemist – in bringing to the world's attention the implications of current health practices, various diseases, and living processes – is in my point of view, the essence of biochemical studies. Society has continued solving challenges, seemingly insurmountable and perhaps more pressing than we have ever faced – I strive to be at the forefront of the “solution-finding” as a research scientist.…

Statement of Objectives Whenever my teachers and friends asked me about my aim in life while I was still at school, I used to say merely that I want to be a successful person in society. At that time I was not aware of the exact pursuit and inclination of my mind, nor did I know what it meant to be a successful person! But now, I know the meaning of a successful person; a successful person is one who is well-known to society and his/ her contribution is vital for society and nation. Today I have a crystal clear vision about a successful person in the field of chemistry. My ultimate wish, as I conceive it now, is to be a successful scientist in the field of Organic chemistry.…
