I am always looking for unexpected; and biomedical engineering does with the application of engineering principles to medicine to resolve patient-life inconveniences. The first thought of doing biomedical engineering was inspired by a phenomenon of a blind man crossing road with a walking stick, finding his ways in a crowd. His aspiration to see again intrigues me to think would sightless people restore vision one day or live in dark forever. Yet, with the intelligent invention of bionic eyes in recent years, I was convinced. A further study on bionic eyes mechanism gave me a full comprehension on how electrically stimulating the retina in responding to visual input.
Naturally, biomedical engineering is an exacting field, requiring innovation and problem solving skills together with biological science knowledge, which is the perfect blend for me. Curable of disease is not only the focus of biomedical engineer but also the life standards of patients. Meanwhile, from tissue culturing to rehabilitation engineering, pharmaceutical to medical devices design, biomedical engineer plays a major part in improving healthcare treatment, include diagnosis and therapy. A vast research on biomedical engineering such as synthetic biology and stereolithography has enlightened me what a biomedical engineer does;

Humans have crossed half the metaphorical road of environmental control in an effort to escape the hands of the gods.…

For many years the traditional way of diagnosing, assessing, and administering drugs to combat diseases has been limited because technology used to do these tasks can be limited. Much research has been done trying to find alternative ways to somehow resolve these issues. One possible solution is to introduce a bio/DNA computer into the patient to help along diagnosis and possible treatment of particular diseases.…

My mind jumps at the possibility of fixing a household appliance like a Keurig Coffee machine to replacing the water cartridge in the shower. Any machine, anything with parts is fair game for my mind. While it is fine to look at something and accept it, like WiFi router, I would rather like to open it up, see how it is built, then configure the settings myself. I was very exhilarated to attend the Technology summit at Stanford University this past summer.…
