Biomedical Engineering Personal Statement Essay

To a biomedical engineer, research provides the opportunity to understand how the human body operates and the ability to develop treatment options to improve the health of human beings. Personally, I feel that research gives me the power to make a direct impact on helping those who are suffering. Additionally, it provides a different skill set that cannot be obtained in any course offered at the university which makes me value my experiences even more. From what I have learned since last year when I began participating in undergraduate research, is that there is no expected or correct answer. This sharpens our creative thinking and problem solving skills while we try and understand what the data means and how we can further the research to …show more content…
He would critically analyze the data then refer back to similar papers written by other researchers to understand the reasoning behind our results. I hope that I can use his methodology in addition to the problem solving skills I learned while troubleshooting to propose a biomedical solution in my design courses over the next couple of years. He inspired me to continue research this summer and throughout my college years. My career goals as of now include graduating with a masters in biomedical engineering. I know that the skills and creative mindset I will gain from this opportunity will be useful in whatever job I may get after graduate school whether it be in an industry or in a research lab. The INBRE summer scholars program encompasses projects from each concentration offered by the University of Delaware allowing me to expose myself to a potential topic that I may want to continue focusing on afterwards. This opportunity can expand my knowledge of biomedical engineering and offer hands-on experimentation in addition to engineering design. I am excited to collaborate with a mentor, learn to use new biomedical devices, and be able to help find a solution to a growing issue in the field. Hopefully, the INBRE summer scholars program will have a positive influence on me and I would like to provide as much knowledge as I

I am always looking for unexpected; and biomedical engineering does with the application of engineering principles to medicine to resolve patient-life inconveniences. The first thought of doing biomedical engineering was inspired by a phenomenon of a blind man crossing road with a walking stick, finding his ways in a crowd. His aspiration to see again intrigues me to think would sightless people restore vision one day or live in dark forever. Yet, with the intelligent invention of bionic eyes in recent years, I was convinced. A further study on bionic eyes mechanism gave me a full comprehension on how electrically stimulating the retina in responding to visual input.…

I used to dream about the cow and always wondered where exactly I first saw it and when I would have the chance to gaze upon it again.…
