Biomedical Engineering Career Research Paper

Growing up in a Christian family has been a major blessing in my life. My parents always encouraged me to trust and rely on God with everything in my day to day activities. They, along with my church family provided a consistent support system that I could go to with my joys and concerns. Similarly, they all have helped me grow in my faith, and I want to be able to incorporate my faith in my vocation. Currently, I’m studying to become a biomedical engineer, but I had previously wanted to be a forensic scientist. I have always had this love for math, science, and problem solving and I thought that forensic science could be what I wanted to do with my life. After touring a crime lab in Carlisle, I realized that, even though some aspects of the job were fascinating, forensic science was not what I wanted to pursue. I was back at square one, not knowing what I wanted to do, until my Dad suggested that I look into the different concentrations of engineering. As I was going through the concentrations that Messiah offered, biomedical engineering caught my eye. Not only did it mix problem solving, math, and science, but this was a major where I could help people have a better life. One way in which I can do this is to use my work as a way of helping others. By helping to enhance someone’s quality of life through research or engineering artificial tissue, I can show God’s love to them. If I work personally with people, I could also tell them about Christ and spread His good news to them. Discipleship can also happen outside of the work place.
