There are two main categories of reproduction, Asexual and Sexual. When only one parents’ cell is used in order to replicate or produce offspring is known as Asexual reproduction. This is very common amongst microorganism such as bacteria. Bacteria reproduce through a sub form process of asexual reproduction called binary fission. In addition to binary fission there is a processes called vegetative reproduction which involves vegetative structures, roots leaves and stems. Budding, when a new organism or offspring begins to grow from the parent body. Regeneration, is also a type of asexual reproduction familiar amongst worms, detached pieces of the parent body form into a second organism. There is little to none genetic variation in offspring produced asexually. Because of this organism produced this way are less likely to mutate in order to adjust to environmental changes. But organism who produce in this way need less time and energy and are therefore able to produce quickly, in larger …show more content…
Now that scientist could clone a mammal this brought about many questions, in first place was Should scientist be allowed to clone humans. During Bill Clintons’ presidency a 5-year ban was placed not allowing scientist to clone human beings. One of societies concerns is people wanting to generate “genetically perfect” human race, this was also the same ideology of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler . The last thing society would want is to create even more tension or an inferior race and another mass genocide. A second apprehension is the use of cloning without permission, a huge ethical violation. This would be similar to stealing and using sperm or egg without the host’s knowledge. Some people also believe that cloning children will diminish the bond and love for children and family, cloning could eventually be used solely for economic gain and competition. On the opposing side, there are many couples who cannot bare children, cloning could give them the opportunity to have their own family identical to the parent. There are also those people who would like to have children but do not have mates, and would like the option of not having to use surrogates or prefer to have their offspring genetically identical to them. On a more scientific perspective it is very possible for these cloned offspring could face severe side effects, developmental problems such as nonfunctioning or premature
