Mrs. Obama is not only beautiful but she has a brain and have her own. What I mean her own, is that she doesn’t have to chase her husband around for things because Michelle has her own degree she works behind the scene while her husband travel around the world. Michelle is an awesome example for younger and older women she encourage younger and older adult to get an education because that’s what’s going to take you places. A lot of young people think school is not important and it is. I recently saw an interview on T.V and it was Michelle Obama and she was taking to the young girls about staying focus on school work and not boys. I believe when I was in school I seen a lot of girls dropping out and getting pregnant, what Michelle said really was encouraging to me. I never drop out of school and got pregnant but it made me more focus. Now days kids, teens, and young adult only look up to rapper, video vixen, and celebrity that or horrible influence. And Michelle really standout out from them, all by saying get an education because the fame life is not what it seem to

The mass incarceration of African-American males is at an all time high, and the prison-industrial complex is rife with racism and injustice. There are 5 times as many Whites using drugs than African-Americans, but African-Americans are being convicted of drug related offenses 10 times the rate of Whites. But, the real injustice starts when former convicts are released from jail and are labeled as felons. In The New Jim Crow, Michelle Alexander claims that felons show the same loss of liberty as African-Americans living under Jim Crow laws in Alabama. Felons, especially those who are African American, are treated similar to colored people under Jim Crow because of the loss of rights among felons, the stigma of former offenders in society, and…

In The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander, which delves into the issue of racism in America or how she describes it as the “racial caste system”; there seems to be a distinct amount of similarities between present time and the past. Americans tend to want to believe that times have changes and they have all progress and done better. Though in some instances that might be true, in reality Americans are simply making excuses in order to rationalize their bias towards not only blacks but minorities as well. I do believe that there is a “New Jim Crow” in America but we seem to be ignoring the topic because it makes us uncomfortable. I believe that we want to think that we have learned from our past…
