On December 30, 1984 LeBron Ramone James was born to Gloria Marie James and Anthony Mclelland in Akron, Ohio. As a child he didn’t have very much money because his mom was only 16 when he was born. Because of his dads absence he uses his mom’s last name instead of his dads. Known for being one of Americas top high school basketball players he rose into the public eye at a young age. In high school by his senior year in high school he was averaging 30 points a game so it’s no surprise he was the first pick in the NBA draft by the cavaliers in 2003.

In his first game with the Cavaliers he scored 25 points against the Sacramento Kings which set an NBA record for most points scored by a prep-to-pro player in his first game. At

However even with LeBron’s 20 point average the Cavs didn’t make play offs. The next year in the 2004-2005 season LeBron’s stats improved with 27.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, 7.2 assists, and 2.2 steals per game including one game against the Toronto raptors where he scored 56 points. The Cavs finished the season 42–40 and didn’t make the post season .It was also a big year for LeBron on an international level as he made the USA Olympic basketball team. During this time LeBron averaged 14.6 minutes per game with 5.8 points and 2.6 rebounds per game in eight games. The team won a bronze medal after losing to the Argentinian team in the semi-final round. It was the first time the American Olympic team didn’t win gold since adding professionals. In the 2005- 2006 season LeBron’s averages were 31.4 points, 7 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game. He made the all-star game and picked up the All Star Game MVP award. He was also a contender for the NBA MVP award but came second to Steve Nash. The Cavaliers had a 50–32 record and made playoffs for the first time since 1998. After the playoffs LeBron signed a 3 year 60 million dollar contract extension with a player option for a 4th year. He agreed to the contract so he could sign a more expensive contract in 2011. In the 2006-2007 James' averages declined to 27.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. Some analysts speculated that it was due to a decrease in his pass quality and poor shot selection. Cleveland ended the season with 50 wins for the second consecutive year and entered the playoffs in the second seed. In the first round the Cavaliers defeated the Washington wizards in all four games. In the semi-finals the Cavaliers won 4-2 against the New Jersey Nets. Then in the conference finals the Cavs defeated the Detroit Pistons 4-2.
