On November 21, 1963, Kennedy gave speeches all around Texas. On the 22nd, while driving through crowds in Dallas, John was shot and seriously wounded a died a short time later. The killer of Kennedy was a 24-year-old man named Lee Harvey Oswald. Oswald fired the shots from an upstairs window on the Texas School Book Depository building and hit the president twice. Minutes later after Oswald shot Kennedy, he tried to escape. An officer, named J.D. Tippit, stopped to question Oswald for being suspicious. Oswald then panicked and shot Tippit and killed him as bystanders witnessed the murder (Goode 16). Bystanders turned Oswald in and he was accused of killing Kennedy. Oswald was then taken into custody. While there, Oswald would not admit to anything, he was very stubborn and turned all the questions into a joke and gave officers no answers. A couple days later while being forced through a crowd, a man named Jack Ruby came up to Oswald in close range and shot him. Oswald died two hours later and left the world with endless questions about the killing of Kennedy.
