Starlito And Tupac Comparison

Have you ever seen Tupac with dreads? I bet you didn’t even know Christopher Wallace is still alive! Jermaine Eric, better known as Starlito, isn’t the exact image of Tupac but their music display similarities. Biggie Smalls isn’t the artist that I’m referring to when I say Christopher Wallace, but the artist I’m referring to is Don Trip. Starlito was born in Memphis, Tennessee, but later moved to Nashville where he attended college at Tennessee State University. He released his first mixtape, “Starlito’s Way” while in college. The mixtape was a breakdown of how the goals he was pursuing were all about business, while neglecting friendships. Later on, he finished the series of “At War With Myself” showing improvement by expanding his vocabulary, and turning his raps into personal …show more content…
The blog showed a series of studio recordings before he dropped his first mixtape. His first mixtape was called “Eastside G 3rd Installment”, it was released to put himself into the rap industry. Trip didn’t get signed until he released the hit single “Letter To My Son”. The hit single expressed emotions he felt towards his son’s mother for not letting him see his son. Consequently, fathers all across the nation could relate. Starlito & Don Trip met through another rapper named Mario Mims, Yo Gotti. He introduced them to each other and they began to work together. Starlito & Don Trip shocked their viewers when they released a mixtape entitled “Stepbrothers”. This mixtape united the two and built a bond that couldn’t be broken. They were able to relate on so many levels and express their thoughts through music to share with others going through similar situations. With me being Starlito & Don Trip 's biggest fan, who knew that the combination of these two underrated artists could provide for me more advice than any advisor could, teach me mental toughness, and establish music that I can relate my personal life

At the peak of the West coast versus East coast beef many people on both ends began to feel a personal connection to the issue and for Jenee Desmond-Harris that was exactly the case. The situation between both rappers, Tupac and Biggie, brought out the violence within the African American community to the forefront and the influence it had upon many on both ends. The essay I decided to evaluate was “Tupac and My Non-thug Life” by Jenee Desmond-Harris. The article entails Ms. Desmond-Harris’s experience of hearing the news of late rapper Tupac Shakur’s death. As a young 13 year old in 8th grade, I was not expecting a reading teacher to once had been a rapper. As a teacher, his name was Mr. Hill but as a rapper, his name was Killa C. Everyone in 8th grade heard about him being a rapper before the year even started. His music seemed to be sort of devil worshipping and not true to his life. “Oswaldo was flummoxed by the fact that his friend could be so quiet, almost embarrassed, about his academic acumen, yet so damn loud and proud of his status as a premier campus drug dealer.” (Hobbs 167). Within this quote from the unforgettable story “The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace,” written by Jeff Hobbs, lies an illustration of the influence of the Hip Hop Culture subgenres that has been located throughout many life stories in the past half century told by famous singers such as Eminem, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, 50 cent, Dr. Dre and many others. The Hip Hop Culture is described as individuals being prone to detail the struggles of life in the course of a brutally honest point of opinion. In “The Short and Tragic Life…

Jenee Desmond – Harris wrote an article called “Tupac and My Non-thug Life,” which was published in an online article called The Root. The title of this article seems very contradictory and that is because it is. This article is about how Desmond – Harris, as a young privileged half white, half black teenage girl, finds herself trying to embody Tupac after his death. The contradiction of this is that Desmond-Harris did not relate to Tupac in the ways of how they grew up. Desmond – Harris had yet to confront any of life’s hard edges when Tupac had passed.…
