As Aimee was growing up she started a Bible club at age nine and got her first job at the age of fourteen. She graduated from South Gwinnett High School and went on to attend college at the University of West Georgia in Carrolton. While attending school, she worked three part-time jobs.

The impact caused a nine-inch slash below her knee. The slash looked like a half circle, and Amiee started yelling to her friends that she needed to go to the hospital. At the hospital the doctors stapled her wound shut and bandaged her leg.
Afterwards Aimee went home and she thought she was okay but in a little bit of pain. The pain began to get worse and worse. She got where she could not take the pain anymore, and her leg had turned dark purple and it was covered with blisters. It was the fourth day and she knew something was wrong. Her leg was starting to smell rotten and she could not get out of the bed.
Back to the hospital Aimee went. Aimee’s parents were notified and it was found that she had necrotizing fasciitis, which is a flesh eating disease. When Aimee fell into the creek, she was exposed to a bacteria called aeromonas hydrophila which is found in fresh or brackish water.
