I chose to pursue Biochemistry at the University of Arizona due to my long term goal to help others. Biology is the science of living organisms which allows me to learn about human health and disease. Chemistry is the study of matter which allows me to understand biological systems and processes. With these two sciences I will be able to apply it to my dream career as a health professional to aid people in need. Both biology and chemistry labs lured me to approach a career with a concentration in science. The experiments and exercises performed in the labs continued to pique my interest as I learned chemical processes, how to properly micropipette, extract protein, and obtain a gene sequence. Throughout my academic career, my biggest worry

She has lived with this genetic disease for all of her life and it has had a toll on her quality of life. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to attend North Dakota State University. My dad and sister are NDSU alumni, so furthering my education where they did provides us with a unique bond. Additionally, not many of my relatives attended college, allowing me to see the difficulties in providing for oneself and family without a college degree. Although I know the next seven years are going to be challenging, extremely strenuous, and will push me to the edge of my comfort zone, the satisfaction of administering medical services to those who need them will make it worthwhile. Not only will I be able to care for others with a Pharm.…

Oftentimes I find myself feeling that I have a long way to go before I truly can be successful with my goals. I am currently a rising sophomore at my university, but have the intention to obtain a PhD in biochemistry. Ever since early in my high school years, I had aimed to become a biomedical gerontologist. A biomedical gerontologist has the goal of reversing, preventing, and/or stopping the damage caused by aging in favor of life extension. In the present, the goals of these scientists are often viewed as controversial, which results in their lack of support from much of the world population despite the arguments made in favor of the work of these scientists.…

Personal Statement I am writing this Personal Statement in support of my application to study for a Master’s degree in Biochemistry at the California State University Sacramento. My interest in Biochemistry has always been a real world interest, and my desire to study Biochemistry at the Master’s level is likewise fueled by the imperativeness of the subject and the crucial role it plays in our everyday lives. The part I want to play as a Biochemist – in bringing to the world's attention the implications of current health practices, various diseases, and living processes – is in my point of view, the essence of biochemical studies. Society has continued solving challenges, seemingly insurmountable and perhaps more pressing than we have ever faced – I strive to be at the forefront of the “solution-finding” as a research scientist.…
