Briefly, the client that this paper will discuss is an African American male veteran (Mr. B), 70, diagnosed with prostate cancer. B case he has numerous presenting problems, as previously stated the number one issue that is presented in this case is that he doesn’t want to inform his children about his illness. Partly, he has reservation because he does not want to overwhelm his children with the stress of being a caregiver. He also displays unresolved issues with his ex-wife, in discussion he informed the social worker that he has relocated three times in avoidance of her. As it is not clear, why they have strong resentment towards one another, in addition to their resentment he missed his daughter's graduation. This can indicate his daughter's slight resentment towards her father for not attending her graduation due to her of her parent’s issues. This may rise questions to whether the daughter doubt the love her father has for her, since her parents are not able to set aside difference to celebrate her achievements. When presenting this issue, Mr. B described the resentment he felt toward misses this milestone in his daughter life. Thirdly, Mr. B has a gambling problem, he enters numerous sweepstakes and often pays to participate; this present a problem with being on fixed income, spending large allotments of money to participate in sweepstakes where the likelihood of winning is uncommon negates essential things needed for his household like food. Two objectives following will be to identify his affiliation with a local church and finding a support group. Often times churches has different ministries, i.e. “the sick and shut in”, after establishing a relationship with pastor, ministers, and member; visitation from this cohort can help reduce the sense of loneliness and help restore the doubt within his value. The evaluation of the treatment plan is the most important, it allows the social worker to determine the effectiveness of the plan that has been set for the client. In order to evaluate this plan, the social worker will discuss with the client a specific timeframe to implement the treatment plan. Setting a deadline to complete the tasks and then following up with the client and their family members to track progress. Initially, during a visitation the social worker could ask the client to express the feeling he had while informing his family members and how did the family react to the information received. Also, the social worker could questioned if they has been an increase in family support afterwards. By asking these probing questions, it will allow the client to regulate the conversation without feeling interviewed and the social worker will be able to draw a conclusion to further assess the
