Bio 203 Reflection

Decent Essays
I was not able to prepare for exam 2 as well as I wanted to. I lost a lot of study time due to my summer job having just begun this week before the exam. I need to adjust my time management and study things a bit more early, that way I have less to study later on when exam 3 comes closer. In order to persevere for the rest of BIO 203, I need to remind myself why I am retaking this class and give myself motivation to keep working hard and not lose focus until the course is finished. Studying a bit everyday will help with retaining the information, and hopefully I will better succeed by doing that.

Preparing for this exam was unlike any other exam for me. I have recently accepted a job at Easter Maine Medical Center, as a nursing tech, and the hours of orientation have been challenging to balance with my studies. My new job has required even greater time management than I have previously implemented. I worked a thirteen-hour shift the day before the exam, worked immediately after the exam, and then completed an online midterm for my socio-cultural nursing class that evening. Although I have not received my exam grade, I felt very prepared and confident due to my strict time management.…

This class was Honors Chemistry, it was extremely difficult and I tried everything I could possibly do to try to be successful in that class. I did extra homework, staying after school, and staying up remarkably late just to try to understand a concept that others seemed to fathom so easily. The feeling of failure from not doing strong in this class made me feel as if I could never understand this class. The feeling of failure for anyone is not an enjoyable feeling, it mostly can cause a stress on your life, when you know you are able to succeed. I decided to take the initiative and try as hard as I can to bring my grade up with the final exam.…

In the Spring of 2016 when I took WRTG 101, I terrified of failing. Before taking WRTG 101, I would always struggle with writing. This class has taught me many important and essential techniques to be successful in my writing career. Considering that Spanish is my first language, reading and writing are a weakness of mine. I have always been afraid of attending an English class for the simple fact of having to write essays.…

Class #1 No readings (yet) Course introduction and overview I am extremely excited about PACS 331 and the content that we are going to cover throughout the term. I’ve always been interested in trauma healing and hope that after the course I will be more knowledgeable about identifying trauma and about how to help those who have experienced or are experiencing it. I personally think that the idea of these journals is a great learning tool. Taking the time to reflect on learning is something that often is tossed aside until dreaded midterms and finals where the lessons are required to be absorbed, usually at a thoughtless and rushed pace.…

When I considered taking WRTG 101 this semester I was unsure how much it would affect my writing style. I have always had issues with the strength of my writing and my overall writing style. Whether it was run on sentences, proper citations, an overall passive writing style, or proper use of pronouns my writing style needed a tune up. After taking this class I have an improved overall understanding of the writing process and how to apply it in different writing situations. Run on Sentences were a concern before I took the class, however now I have a much better understanding of proper sentence structures.…

After concluding the genogram, it dawned on me that my family didn’t necessarily have many issues regarding emotional relationships. I think most of it has to deal with the recent transition of a laid-back household to a religious household where my parents are very much involved with the church alongside my younger siblings. With that being said I did notice that my paternal family had a higher chance of dying young whereas my maternal family had a much longer lifespan. I also took into consideration that the marriages that occurred where between individuals that where only a couple of years apart from one another. I can’t claim any educational patterns that have occurred within the household since I’ve been the only one who’s attended college.…

Over the course of studying E214 I have thought greatly about my own practice working as an HLTA in a mainstream primary school, where I mainly work with children that experience barriers to learning. These barriers are due to the children having special educational needs or due to having English as an additional language. I now question whether the children I work with are part of a system that has created othering and if through them being othered they included as fully as possible or are they still subject to exclusion through the barriers they experience when accessing the national curriculum or through their progress not being as high as expected by society. (online unit 17) The focus of education appears to be about the grades and progress…

The course AFAS 160 D1 is my first online class, and until now I still felt lucky to choose this class as one of my general education classes, because it gave me a great opportunity and an eye-opening experience about learning the African American Culture which I have never learned before and also gave me a chance to learn online. Describing this course to someone else, I would say this class is interesting and if you want to learn this class well, you need to prepare the Voice Thread and read the book carefully. To be honest, making videos on Voice Thread gave me a unique experience. Blackfish Reflection

I watched the documentary Blackfish written by Gabriela Cowperthwaite and Eli B. Despres for the second time last week. The documentary is about Tilikum, an orca that killed three people at SeaWorld. The directors wanted to build a case against using wild animals for commercial value and against keeping wild animals in captivity. The first time I watched the film was shortly after it came out in 2013. I was sitting in my family room with my two friends who had seen it before and had strong opinions that keeping animals in captivity is wrong, no matter what the circumstances.…
