William Avery Bishop was born on February 8, 1894. Bishop attended the Canadian Royal Military College before World War One broke out in 1914. As a child Bishop didn't enjoy engaging in teamwork and collaborating with others as instead he enjoyed solo tasks such as shooting, horseback riding and swimming foreshadowing his future love for flying solo. Billy Bishop was 20 years old during WW1. Billy Bishop is infamously known as the top Canadian flying ace as an air marshal with 72 victories and many accolades. Billy Bishop is commemorated all around the world especially in Canada as there is an airport in Toronto named in his honor called billy bishop toronto city airport.
