He and his wife Melinda have so far given away $28 billion via their charitable foundation, more than $8 billion of it to improve global health. Gates donated a lot of money to a lot of people that needed help. He helped people all over the world so he could save their lives. The machine will help 783 million people living without clean water. Bill Gates did as many things to help people to from living a bad life. Since the turn of the century, partly thanks to the work of the foundation, four countries have eradicated malaria. Mortality from the disease has dropped 42% in that time.
