Bill Clintin Pros And Cons

Improved Essays
I think that Bill Clintin's letter is very contradictional and infomous with himself beliefs and values and his own nation. On one hand he wants to enlisting in the military to supposedly defend the patriotism of his country. However, he does not want to be a just a simple service man, he really intention is being commissioned as an officer to gain power and control everything over the war. In other words his purpose is to become part of the ROTC. Bill Clinton contradicts himself when he starts the letter by saying that he is so thankful because he was saved from the draft. At the same time he claims that he wants to be consider for the ROTC not for the draft. But this is a contradictory statement because even if he become in a military commission …show more content…
However, he implies in Paragraph nine of this letter that ROTC is the only possible way for him to Join the armed forces. In other words, Clinton is more compromised to envision his political interests by opposing to the draft and war, than to defend the honor and safety of his own country by supporting it. It is very contradictional how Clinton's ideologies about war are because in one aspect he is not in favor of it but each time he refers to the ROTC he does it. Joining the ROTC is not just Clinton's ambition to have absolute power over the military system, it is also the ambition of his family and wealthy friends that in some way to another rinfluence on his decision. To really have precise and concise understand it of the content of this letter, We got to think guys that Clintons political and social capability influence on his ideologies about war , draft and ROTC. He is so political experienced and wants to brainwashed Holmes about his decision and maybe give him the Oportunity to join the ROTC. We can notice this guys in paragraph nine when Clinton argues that the system is "corrupt, dangerous and inadequate". In other words he implies that he does not want to joint the draft not to support the ideologies within the system, but he would like to join the ROTC to be against of this ideologies. It is like he wants that Oportunity to do what he thinks is correct for the nation but being in despite is against of the war. Over all Clinton just means by this statement that he is not in favor of the war but he implies he wants to be part of the corrupt system by being in the ROTC and abuse of this power to satisfy his own conflict of interest'

The bill has nine separate measures. The measures include replacing the pardon system with ‘record suspensions’, mandatory minimum sentences for certain sexual offences, and mandatory minimum sentences for certain drug offences, making it illegal to give sexually explicit information available to a kid, increasing…

In the article ‘The Draft would Compel Us to share the Sacrifice’ author Charles Rangel says that drafting people into the military would help us share the sacrifice of the war effort when needed. This is not true as a result of forcing us into the military we are inclined to not have a passion to assist our country for the reason that serving our country was not our choice. Moreover, when we are not motivated to achieve anything we are more inclined that we will complete it with less effort. Therefore, this article is ineffective due to the fact that the author doesn’t apprehend the attitudes of the people who are forced into entering the military due to the draft.…

In the article Hayfoot, Strawfoot, Bruce Catton, an American historian and journalist, claims that soldiers in the American Civil War were effective even though they were unorganized, unsophisticated and had harsh conditions. He also explains men were drafted for the war, instead of volunteering like they do today. He shows and supports this in many ways. He supports his claim first by showing the lack of education and sophistication came from boys signing up for the war that were under the age of eight-teen. Then, he expands evidence by saying the boys under the age of eight-teen would put the number eight-teen in the sole of their shoe.…
