In J. R. R. Tolkien story, “The Hobbit”, Bilbo, the main character, is a man who displays courage and strength while on the adventures of being a false burgular. In the story, Bilbo decides to give Bard and the others the Arkenstone of Thrain to help in haggling with Thorin. The reason for Bilbo actions comes from Bard seeking aid from Thorin, because while killing the dragon Smaug, Laketown was destroyed. Thorin feels as though Laketown’s destruction isnt his problem, and in this refused to offer any of his treasure to the people of the town. This infuriates Thorin causing a dispute between the dwarves, men, and elves. Bilbo knows that the Arkenstone is something Thorin cherishes, telling Bard that Thorin values it more than gold.
